ATA and NFI prepared these guidelines for all parties involved in shipping seafood by air, to facilitate continued successful operations. It is recommended that these guidelines be studied and adopted by all shippers, air carriers, and packaging suppliers. Extract of contents: general considerations for packaging whole or dressed fish, fillets, live seafood products; packaging design; fish and seafood acceptance by air carriers (acceptable weights, refrigerants and insulation; using dry ice as a refrigerant); external marking and labelling (dry ice marking and labelling requirements); transportation from packaging house to airport.
