Summary

This meeting was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on October 16-19, 2001. It consisted of a preparatory segment and a high-level segment. Topics of the preparatory segment: consumption of HCFCs in Article 5 Parties; information on new ozone-depleting substances; criteria to assess the potential ODP of new chemicals; essential-use exemption applications. Topics of the high-level segment: summary presentations by the Assessment Panels (Technology and Economic Assessment Panel: aerosols, foams, refrigeration, solvents, methyl bromide; recommended decisions. In the annexes: essential-use nominations for 2002-2004 authorized by the 13th meeting of the Parties; recommendation of the customs co-operation Council on the insertion in national statistical nomenclatures of subheadings to facilitate the collection and comparison of data on the international movement of substances controlled by virtue of amendments; trust funds.
