Summary

The R22 AREP was established by the ARI to assist manufacturers in obtaining performance data on a multitude of R22 and R502 alternatives. One step is the testing of compressors with the alternative refrigerants. Results of compressor calorimeter tests conducted as part of AREP are summarized and evaluated. Although some results are good, no single alternative appears as a universal replacement for either R22 or R502.
