Summary

A 250 kilowatts, gas-driven ammonia-water absorption heat pump was installed in the government building in Maastricht in 1993. The building has a total installed heating capacity of 2500 kilowatts. During the heating season 1993-94 a reduction of 118,500 m3 of natural gas (30% of the normal yearly consumption) was reached. The installation did not show any "teething troubles".
