Summary

After a short description of screw compressors, their use, advantages and usual features, the author compares the use of ammonia in screw and reciprocating compressors and discusses refrigerant injection, vi-control, the oil circuit and oil cooling. He concludes that flood-operating ammonia installations with full charges of 50 kg and equipped on the plate heat exchangers could produce more than 600 kilowatts of refrigerating power.
