Summary
This article presents the special requirements for alternatives to R11 and R12 refrigerants in centrifugal water chillers in service. Similitude theory and influences on exit pressure exerted by parameters are described. Selection criteria for alternative refrigerants in existing centrifugal water chillers are described. Examples of two substitutes, LXR1 and LXR2, which have good performances, are given.
