Summary

The seeds of the pedunculate oak are recalcitrant, and long term storage is presently not possible. Cryopreservation has been attempted as a method of long term storage. The embryo axes were not less desiccation sensitive than entire embryos, and no axes survived exposure to liquid nitrogen. A few axes survived short exposure to -20 deg C.
