Simple approach to cooling load component calculation through PV walls.
Author(s) : YANG H., BURNETT J., et al.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The authors investigate the heat transfer across a photovoltaic wall (PV) to determine the cooling load component contributed by building-integrated PV walls. They give a new definition of equivalent hourly average outdoor temperature for simplifying the calculation procedures of the cooling load component. The meteorological data of Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing are used to calculate the heat gains and the cooling load components of typical building walls. The integration of photovoltaics in building walls reduces the corresponding cooling load components by 33-50%.
