Simulation of a 3-ton residential CO2 air conditioner.
Author(s) : ORTIZ T. M., GROLL E. A.
Summary
Strategies used to improve performance included varying suction and discharge pressure, employing either a liquid-to-suction line heat exchanger or a work producing expansion device, increasing air flow rates and increasing heat exchanger fin densities. The model system achieved a maximum COP based on capacity and compressor/expander work (i.e. neglecting fan power) of 3.5.
