Summary

A counterflow micro heat exchanger was numerically simulated. These counterflow micro heat exchangers are built and tested at Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, Germany. The hydraulic diameter of one micro channel is 133. For the beginning, the authors used the computer code Flutan (computer code developed at Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe from the Commix code originally developed at Argonne National Laboratory, USA), considering two channels one with cold water and the other with hot water. They obtained good agreement between experimental results and numerical results using the k-eps turbulence model for high Re numbers, even that from the Re number the flow seems to be a laminar one. The they used the commercial codes CFX 5.5.1 and Fluent 6.1.22 to simulate these two micro heat exchangers. Good agreement between experimental and numerical results was obtained.
