Summary

THE AUTHOR IDENTIFIES THE DISADVANTAGES OF MULTIPLE COMPRESSORS OPERATING IN PARALLEL ON SUPERMARKET SYSTEMS AS AGAINST INDIVIDUAL COMPRESSORS FOR EACH DISPLAY CASE. THE MAJOR CRITERIA ARE A SHORTAGE OF SERVICE PERSONEL CAPABLE OF UNDERSTANDING THE MORE COMPLEX PARALLEL COMPRESSOR CONTROLS, A LACK OF GOOD SYSTEM DESIGN ENGINEERS, POOR INSTALLATION, AND PRICE CUTTING WHICH INVOLVES LOWEST COST, PART SYSTEMS FROM DIFFERENT SUPPLIERS. INDIVIDUAL COMPRESSOR SYSTEMS WITH SIMPLE BASIC CONTROLS HAVE LOWER FIRST COST AND ALSO GIVE MUCH LOWER POTENTIAL REFRIGERANT LOSS. D.W.H.
