Summary

This issue of "Acta Horticulturae" contains the 57 papers presented at this symposium, held in Oslo, Norway, June 17-22, 1995. Themes: quality evaluation; water uptake, vascular occlusion, source-sink relations; growing conditions, effect on quality; genetics, genetical engineering; ethylene, senescence; storage, transport, preservatives (this chapter contains a large number of papers dealing with a variety of subjects such as: the influence of precooling on the vase life of flowers; improvement of the keeping quality of mini-gladiolus spikes during prolonged storage; control and regulation of the gravitropic response of cut flowering stems during storage and horizontal transport; postharvest treatments and refrigerated storage studies; cultivar differences with respect to storage potential and carbohydrate status of rooted Chrysanthemum cuttings).
