Small liquefied gases delivery: growing technology.

Author(s) : MACHALA Z., PREVRATIL B.

Summary

We can observe the growth of the sizes of cryogenic equipment in all its branches. Small delivery systems represent the transition branch between compressed gas cylinders (CGC) and bulk deliveries of liquid in trailers. CGSs are widely substituted by liquid cylinders (LC) in the range of 180 to 2000 litres. The recent innovations are systems of direct filling of liquid cylinders at the customer's sites. Small tank trucks, equipped for quick fill on site, are supplying stationary LCs. As the system was well verified in practice, growing volumes of both the tank trucks and receiving trucks are required. In 2005, new types of stationary tanks for 1500 and 2000 litres were developed, for the two pressure levels and with optional functions of large flow rates. Also, the volume of tank trucks - delivery units - has grown to 13 000 litres. A brief economic comparison between basic systems of gas transport demonstrates the advantages of this system for certain relatively large segments of gas consumption. Examples of the largest tanks from this range, developed recently, are presented along with the advantages of process parameters and economic aspects of the system. The size of the trucks has also increased appropriately, up to 13 m3 gross volume. The technology of distribution of liquefied gases into small, but growing liquid cylinders is described in detail.
