Summary

A SNOW MELTING SYSTEM USING A HEAT PUMP OPERATED ON THE HEAT SOURCE OF AIR WAS DEVELOPED THROUGH THE FIELD TEST. AN EXTENDED HEAT PUMP SYSTEM COMBINING SNOW-MELTING WITH AIR CONDITIONING IS SUGGESTED. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF HEAT EXCHANGERS WITH SNOW MELTING ARE SHOWN FOR TWO CASES, MELTINGS OF PILED SNOW AND OF FALLEN SNOW. THE OPTIMUM OPERATION OF HEAT PUMPS SHOULD BE RELATED TO THE CHARACTERISTICS FOR EACH CASE OF SNOW MELTING.
