Before 1975, there were only 32 frozen seafood factories, 5 meat processing and preserving factories and 6 vegetable processing and refrigerating enterprises in the whole country. After the war, Viet Nam had restored and constructed many frozen food processing factories for export. In 1980, there were 60 frozen food processing factories.
