AT ANY POINT IN A CONDENSER WHERE DESUPERHEATING TURNS SUDDENLY TO CONDENSING THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE INCREASE IN HEAT TRANSFER AND THEREFORE OF WALL TEMPERATURE OF ATUBE SURFACE. THE EFFECT IS TO CONDUCT HEAT AXIALLY THROUGH THE TUBE MATERIAL AND THUS INCREASE WALL TEMPERATURE, EFFECTIVELY MOVING THE CONDENSING POINT DOWNSTREAM. THE AUTHORS INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM TO DISCOVER THE DEGREE AND PATTERNOF TEMPERATURE VARIATION OCCURRING WHEN A FLUID CONDENSES INSIDE A TUBE. D.W.H.
