Summary

The NICA accelerator complex is scheduled to be put into operation in 2019 at JINR in Dubna. The helium cryogenics of the NICA complex will be based on the modernized liquid helium plant for the Nuclotron. The main goals of the modernization are: increasing the total refrigerating capacity from 4000 W to 8000 W at 4.5 K; forcing of the Nuclotron refrigerators into a “satellite” mode of operation with the refrigerating capacity of 2400 W at 4.5 K; creating a new system of liquid helium distribution. These goals will be achieved by means of commissioning of a new 1000 l/hour helium liquefier and “satellite” refrigerator of the collider, and of installation of the new modified “wet” turbo expanders in the Nuclotron refrigerators. The new closed-cycle 2300 kg/h nitrogen cryogenic system for producing and distributing of liquid nitrogen and re-condensation of nitrogen vapour will be constructed.
Status of the NICA cryogenics: location, basic parameters and design of major components and their phased commissioning, will be discussed.
