Status of the ozone depletion theory.
Author(s) : BLOCK B. P.
Type of article: Article, IJR article
Summary
Current efforts to investigate the effect of human activities on the stratospheric ozone layer are based on two approaches. One approach is the attempt to calculate the effect using mathematical models, the other is the attempt to determine what is happening to stratospheric ozone from direct measurements of its concentration as a function of time. This is a review of these studies, which are sponsored by both the free-world chlorofluorocarbon producers and the US and other governments, with emphasis on results obtained since the 1979 National Academy of Sciences report.
