STUDIES ON COOLING SYSTEM USING RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES.

Author(s) : ABDULLAH K., SAGARA Y.

Summary

A SIMPLE TECHNIQUE TO MEASURE THE THERMOPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF TROPICAL AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS WAS DEVELOPED AND RESULTS FOR APPLES, MELONS, WATERMELONS, ORANGES, GUAVAS AND OTHER COMMODITIES ARE PRESENTED. BASED ON THESE DATA IT WAS POSSIBLE TO SIMULATE THE COOLING PROCESS OF THESE COMMODITIES UNDER SPECIFIED STORAGE CONDITIONS AND COOLING CAPACITY GENERATED FROM A COOLING SYSTEM RUN BY RENEWABLE ENERGY. A SIMULATION STUDY USING SOLAR ENERGY AS THE PRINCIPAL ENERGY SOURCE INDICATED THAT SOME AUXILIARY POWER HAS TO BE PROVIDED. (POSTHARVEST NEWS INF., GB., 2, N 4, 1991/08, 1574.
