Poovan and "Dwarf Cavendish" bananas were stored under modified atmosphere at 14 plus or minus 1°C in air tight containers fitted with various sized diffusion channels after having been dipped in 0.1% Bavistin then dried. Following a 15-day storage period, the fruit stored in 20-cm length containers with 3-mm diameter diffusion channels had the best quality and texture.
