Summary

Cylinder profile is one of the key factors influencing the performance of the rotary vane compressor used for automobile air-conditioning systems. A new type of cylinder profile is put forward in this article which is composed of three parts: circle arc near the minor axis of cylinder profile, main curve and transit curve between them. The volume ratio of the compressor, the motion of the vane, the forces and the moments acting on the rotor were studied with some typical cylinder profiles. It was shown that the profile composed of trigonometric function has better velocity and acceleration characteristics than other profiles mentioned in the article. Stress under impact and noise pollution of the compressor could be reduced effectively by optimization of the design of the transit curve. The cylinder profile has little influence on the shaft power of rotary vane compressor.
