Summary

THIS PAPER DEALS WITH HEAT DISCHARGE CHARACTERISTICS OF LATENT HEAT STORAGE MATERIAL AND HEAT TRANSFER TO A VERTICAL SINGLE PIPE IN A CYLINDRICAL HEAT STORAGE CONTAINER. IN THESE EXPERIMENTS, CACL2.6H2O IS USED AS LATENT HEAT STORAGE MATERIAL. THE FOLLOWING RESULTS WERE OBTAINED: 1. THE HEAT DISCHARGE CHARACTERISTICS HAVE 3 STAGES EXPLAINED AS FOLLOWS: (1) THE SENSIBLE HEAT DISCHARGE FROM THE LIQUID HEAT STORAGE MATERIAL IS REDUCED IN THE 1ST STAGE. (2) THE LATENT HEAT IN SOLIDIFICATION PROCESS IS MAINLY DISCHARGED IN THE 2ND STAGE. (3) THE SENSIBLE HEAT DISCHARGE FROM THE SOLID HEAT STORAGE MATERIAL STARTS IN THE 3RD STAGE. 2. THE TENDENCY OF THE EXPERIMENTAL THERMAL RESISTANCE VALUES IN A SOLIDIFICATION PROCESS IS SIMILAR TO THE THEORETICAL VALUES. THE ABSOLUTE VALUES ARE HOWEVER LESS ABOUT 40 PERCENTAGE THAN THOSE OF THE THEORETICAL THERMAL RESISTANCE. 3. THE LOWER WATER TEMPERATURE FLOWING INTO THE HEAT TRANSFER PIPE IS, THE SES.
