Summary

EXPERIMENTAL REPORT ON HEAT-TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT OF R12 DRY EVAPORATORS USING THE INTEGRAL INTERNAL SPIRAL-FIN TUBE. THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS SHOW THAT THE INTEGRAL INTERNAL SPIRAL-FIN TUBE IS VERY EFFECTIVE FOR FLOW BOILING HEAT TRANSFER OF A DRY EVAPORATOR. IT CAN INCREASE THE OVERALL HEAT-TRANSFER COEFFICIENT OF THE EVAPORATOR BY ABOUT 60% OVER THAT OF A SMOOTH TUBE AT THE SAME OPERATING CONDITIONS, OR REDUCE THE HEAT-EXCHANGE SURFACE BY ABOUT 37%.
