Summary

A multiple packaged air-conditioning unit system is widely recognized as one of popular air-conditioning systems for buildings. The authors have developed a high performance personal air-conditioning system by sub-cooling refrigerant in an additional heat exchanger with multiple packaged air-conditioning units. This system can choose several cold heat sources for sub-cooling, water of cooling-tower, supply water of boilers, well water, etc. For these cold heat source systems, the annual performances in terms of electric power consumption and exhaust heat were evaluated using system simulation on the real-scale equipment. The increasing cooling capacity and decreasing electric power consumption were tested under several sub-cooling temperatures of cold heat source by the prototype multiple packaged air-conditioning units. The simulated results of annual performances were based on these tested results.
