Summary

PRESERVATION TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT OVER TWO YEARS ON 12 VARIETIES OF POTATO. AFTER AN INITIAL PERIOD OF 38 DAYS, WHEN THE ROOM TEMPERATURE WAS MAINTAINED AT HIGHER VALUES, HUMIDIFIED AIR AT 279 K (6 DEG C) WAS FORCED THROUGH THE POTATOES, WHICH WERE HELD INSIDE BOXES: NO TREATMENT AGAINST GERMINATION WAS USED, UNLESS NECESSARY. AFTER SEVEN MONTHS OF REFRIGERATED STORAGE, THE QUALITY OF THE POTATOES WAS TESTED: IN GENERAL, THIS PRESERVATION METHOD PROVED TO BE EFFECTIVE FOR ALL VARIETIES AND VERY SUITABLE FOR SOME OF THEM.
