Type of article: Article
Summary
States that storage of winter cold in the soil may be an attractive alternative to chillers. Electricity consumption would be reduced by 50 to 60%. In some cases a reduction of fuel consumption for heating the ventilation air would also be possible. Distinguishes between four concepts for cooling systems with cold storage in The Netherlands. Presents a case study in which the design and profitability of a cold storage system is discussed in some detail.
