Commitments by the Montreal Protocol are presented including more important dates for phase-out of CFC refrigerants, and the latest decision from 2007 for term shortening of HCFC refrigerants. The fields where R22 is most applied are described. The criteria which the refrigerants should meet are listed and general survey on alternative refrigerants by groups is given: transitional, medium and long term.
