Sustainable cooling as emission reduction factor.

Number: pap. 12

Author(s) : FUNDER-KRISTENSEN T., FELDMANN C. J.

Summary

In this paper, sustainable cooling is addressedfrom a technology and energy context in the perspective of a rising need for cooling. Energy consumption and system efficiency are described through examples of integrated systems with outset in practical examples from the supermarket sector. The analysis shows that a growing cooling capacity can be obtained in line with the growth of Renewable Energy Resources and that cooling systems can play a major positive role in the sustainability codex. The specific need for a growing cold chain is addressed through a total emission perspective and it is shown that increased food security and
safety can be obtained using a low emission cold chain which reduces the food waste and loss.
