Technology and possible uses of fuel cells.

Technologie und mögliche Anwendung der Brennstoffzelle.

Author(s) : WURSTER R.

Summary

The fuel cell is a more than 150-year-old technology for electrochemical transformation of hydrogen and oxygen into electricity, heat and water. In recent years fuel cells have attracted increasing interest through advantages in energy transformation (down to the lowest capacities) and emissions reduction. The author presents an overview of current prototypes in which membrane fuel cells are beginning to take hold in microelectronics and telecommunications in the same dimensions as in photovoltaics.
