Type of article: Article

Summary

AFTER A REVIEW OF THE TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF EXCHANGERS, THE OPERATING MODE OF 3 GROUPS OF EXCHANGERS (AIR/REFRIGERANT, LIQUID/REFRIGERANT, WITH COLD STORAGE) ARE PRESENTED, AS WELL AS THE PARTS THEY COMPRISE. THE TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES NOTED IN EACH GROUP ARE THEN DETAILED: OPTIMIZED FINS WITH VARIOUS GEOMETRIES, OPTIMAL DIAMETERS AND CIRCUITS OF THE TUBES, HIGH PERFORMANCE TUBES WITH INTEGRAL FINS, PLASTIC EXTRUDED TUBES FOR EUTECTIC-EVAPORATORS WITH DIRECT EXPANSION. THE CAPACITY AND THE PERFORMANCES OF THE EXCHANGERS HAVE BEEN IMPROVED, AND THE BULK AND THE COST HAVE BEEN REDUCED. RESEARCH HAS TO BE INTENSIFIED BECAUSE THE PHYSICAL LIMITS OF THE EXCHANGE ARE STILL UNREACHED. J.L.
