Summary

AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF CROSSFLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER OVER A SINGLE FINNED TUBE IN A HEAT-EXCHANGER BUNDLE OVER WIDE RANGES OF THE REYNOLDS AND PRANDTL NUMBERS YIELDED DISTRIBUTIONS OF THE LOCAL DRAG AND HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS ALONG THE HEIGHT OF THE FIN AND ABOUT THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE TUBE. METHODS FOR ESTIMATING THE LOCATION OF BOUNDARY-LAYER SHEDDING FROM SUCH A TUBE ARE EXAMINED, AS WELL AS CONDITIONS DETRIMENTAL TO THE RELIABILITY AND LIFETIME OF SUCH HEAT EXCHANGERS.
