Summary

EXPERIMENTS WITH NATURAL AIR CIRCULATION OVER CONVECTORS IN A MODEL, LOADED FROZEN FOOD DISPLAY CABINET SHOW AN UNFAVOURABLE SURFACE TEMPERATURE AT THE TOP OF THE LOAD. SURFACE TEMPERATURES ON TOP, IN SPITE OF AN EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE OF 235 K (-38 DEG C), COULD NOT BE MAINTAINED AT 255 K (-18 DEG C). EXPERIMENTS WITH A CENTRAL CHIMNEY OF 200 MM RESULTED IN A MINIMUM TOP TEMPERATURE OF 262 K (-11 DEG C). WIDENING THE CHIMNEY RESULTED IN HIGHER TOP TEMPERATURES.
