TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTIONS IN FROZEN AND CHILLED COMMODITIES IN INSULATED AND REFRIGERATED ISO CONTAINERS.

Author(s) : HEAP R. D.

Summary

TEMPERATURE RANGES IN CONTAINERISED COMMODITIES ARE DEPENDENT ON A NUMBER OF FACTORS, INCLUDING AMBIENT WEATHER, CONTAINER CONDITION, AIR CIRCULATION RATE, CONTAINER DESIGN AND CONTROL SYSTEM. FOR SENSITIVE COMMODITIES, ACHIEVEMENT OF A NARROW TEMPERATURE RANGE IS ESSENTIAL. THE THEORETICAL EFFECTS OF THE VARIOUS FACTORS ARE CONSIDERED AND EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS ARE PRESENTED SHOWING THE EXTENT TO WHICH TEMPERATURE RANGES IN FULLY LOADED CONTAINERS MAY BE PREDICTED, AND THE SORT OF RANGES WHICH IT IS REALISTIC TO EXPECT IN PRACTICE.
