Summary
Refrigeration is challenged within the framework of the National Climate Protection Programme to minimize emissions of greenhouse gases generated by the technical producing of cold. The study shows yearly emissions of 24 900 kt/a CO2 equivalents for the technical production of cold by using HFC and PCF refrigerants. The emissions caused by refrigerant amount to 2800 kt/a, equal to 11%. Emissions due to the running of the refrigerating machines amount to 22 100 kt/a (89%), have the biggest impact.
