L'INSEMINATION ARTIFICIELLE DES JUMENTS. CONSERVATION DU SPERME D'ETALON FRAIS ET CONGELE.
Author(s) : PALMER E., LANGLOIS P.
Summary
REPORT OF THE MAIN IMPROVEMENTS MADE FOR THE STORAGE OF SEMEN AT 4 DEG C, USING A DILUTANT (MILK, GLUCOSE, LACTOSE, RAFFINOSE, SODIUM AND POTASSIUM CITRATE). THE VIABILITY OF SPERMATOZOA IS 40 TO 50% AFTER 96 HRS. THE FROZEN STORAGE OF SEMEN IS IMPROVED PROVIDED 2% EGG YOLK AND 2.5% GLYCEROL ARE ADDED IN THE DILUTANT. THAWED SEMEN BETTER WITHSTANDS 2 HR INCUBATION AT 37 DEG C THAN FRESH SEMEN. THE PERFORMANCE OF THE INSEMINATION OF FROZEN SEMEN IS NOT AS HIGH AS THAT OF FRESH SEMEN STORED FOR 24 HRS. G.G.
