Summary

A DETAILED TECHNICAL COMPARISON IS GIVEN BETWEEN TWO COLD ROOMS, OF 10,000 M3 AT 243 K (-30 DEG C) EACH FITTED WITH A HANDLING SYSTEM WHICH IS ENTIRELY AUTOMATIC AND WITH A FREEZING CAPACITY OF 40 TONS PER DAY. THESE TWO COLD ROOMS WERE CONSTRUCTED AT AN 11 YEAR INTERVAL (1975 AND 1986). THE STRUCTURE AND THE INSULATION SYSTEM, THE STORAGE AND FREEZING EQUIPMENT, THE HANDLING INSTALLATION AND ITS INTEGRAL AUTOMATION SYSTEM, AS WELL AS THE REFRIGERATING EQUIPMENT ARE DESCRIBED, UNDERLINING THE CHARACTERISTICS WHICH WERE EVIDENT BETWEEN ONE ROOM AND ANOTHER AND THOSE DUE TO MODIFICATIONS.
