THE IIR ORGANIZED, IN 1986-87, A CAMPAIGN OF INFORMATION ENTITLED "REFRIGERATION FOR DEVELOPMENT". THE AUTHOR PRESENTS THE OBJECTIVES OF THE CAMPAIGN, THE CONDITIONS TO BE MET, THE ACTIONSUNDERTAKEN AND SPECIALLY THE RESULTS OF A SURVEY ON TRAINING IN REFRIGERATION. INDUSTRIALIZED COUNTRIES TRAIN, AT THE MINIMUM PER YEAR, 4 SENIOR EXECUTIVES, 8 TECHNICIANS AND 8 FITTERS PER MILLION INHABITANTS. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIALISTS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES ARE ABOUT 10,700 SENIOR EXECUTIVES, 15,000 TO 20,000 SENIOR TECHNICIANS AND 15,000 TO 20,000 FITTERS PER YEAR. COMMENTS ARE GIVEN ON THE HANDICAPS OF DEVELOPING COUNTRIES AND THE CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE IIR IN FAVOUR OF PROMOTING REFRIGERATION.
