THE COLD CHAIN FOR FRESH FARMED NORWEGIAN SALMON.

Summary

PRODUCTION OF FARMED ATLANTIC SALMON REACHED 115,000 TONNES IN 1989. BECAUSE OF LARGE AND INCREASING DEMAND, A NEW TYPE OF DISPOSABLE BOX WAS DEVELOPED. THE THERMOBOX IS BETTER ADAPTED TO TRANSPORT THAN THE COMMONLY USED POLYSTYRENE BOXES. MOST OF THE PROBLEMS IN TRANSPORTING FRESH FISH CAN BE SOLVED WI THERMOBOXES, BUT A QUALITY-ASSURANCE SYSTEM IS STILL REQUIRED.
