The configuration coefficient as quality criterion for refrigerated retail cabinets.

Author(s) : MEFFERT H. F. T.

Summary

Retail cabinets are the most sensitive equipment in a cold chain with regard to temperature management and energy consumption. Standardization has not resulted in equipment for the display of highly temperature sensitive foodstuffs. A general model can be applied to estimate the temperature range of different types of cabinets, resulting in the possibility of evaluation of the temperature performance. Further validation is wanted. In view of energy labelling of retail cabinets, temperature performance criteria are necessary to guide technical development for better quality protection by close temperature control.
