THE CONTRIBUTION OF CRYOGENICS TO THE REDUCTION OF AMMONIA SYNTHESIS POWER CONSUMPTION.

Author(s) : VINS L., MIKULEC J.

Summary

OVERALL ENERGY CONSUMPTION IS DETERMINING FOR THE COMPARISON OF AMMONIA PRODUCTION PLANT. IN PRACTICE, THE SAME SPECIFIC ENERGY CONSUMPTION IS OBTAINED IN THE PLANT WHERE CRYOGENICS IS USED FOR THE FINAL PROCESSING OF THE SYNTHESIS MIXTURE AS IN COMMON PLANT. BUT CRYOGENIC SEPARATION MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO REDUCE OVERALL ENERGY CONSUMPTION. THE POSSIBLE ADJUSTMENTS CONCERN, ON ONE HAND, THE CRYOGENIC UNIT AND, ON THE OTHER HAND, THE GENERAL CHANGE IN THE OPERATION OF THE PLANT WHICH IS MADE EASIER.
