Summary

A NEWLY DEVELOPED MULTI-ORIENTATION CRYOSURGICAL APPARATUS WHICH CAN BE USED FOR TISSUE FREEZING IN BOTH LARGE AREA AND DEPTH IS DESCRIBED. THE DEVICE CAN SIMULTANEOUSLY SUPPLY ENOUGH COOLING POWER THROUGH A TRANSFER TUBE TO 6-9 CRYOPROBES TO QUICKLY FREEZE CANCER TO A TEMPERATURE AS LOW AS 213 K (-60 DEG C). PRELIMINARY CLINICAL TRIALS SHOW THAT THE APPARATUS IS SATISFACTORY FOR MULTI-ORIENTATION DEEP FREEZING IN THE CANCER AREA.
