Summary
It is demonstrated that low temperatures, high salt concentrations, and ethanol induce the activation of 26 kDa protein synthesis in E. coli cells that is not related to the synthesis of "heat shock" proteins. The conditions affecting the activity of this protein synthesis has been also studied. Possible mechanisms of the involvement of 26 kDa protein in the system of cell reparation after cryotreatment are discussed.
