The energy transfer of an ice-slurry for direct cooling of fish.

Author(s) : SMEETS R. C. A.

Summary

A solution, for upgrading the cooling technology for direct cooling of fish is being sought in combining the advantages of refrigerated seawater and conventional ice-systems. A technical, as well as economical solution may be the use of a scraped heat-exchanger which produces an ice-slurry, directly out of seawater. A technical description of the slurry-ice technology for seawater and a comparison with the existing cooling technologies has therefore been made.
