The European market for frozen shrimp.
Author(s) : HOTTLET O.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The EEC is the third largest market for shrimp in the world. Consumption rises steadily but there is still room for future expansion. Over the past thirty years, the tropical shrimp has found a gap in the European market as a competitive alternative to Nordic shrimp, when these are scarce and expensive. The European Single Market technical requirements have delayed the implementation of new regulations and real harmonization is not likely before the end of 1994.
