Summary

THE FEASIBILITY OF PASSIVE UNDERGROUND COLD STORE STRUCTURES FOR FRUIT PRESERVATION IN THE NORTH FLATLAND AREAS OF CHINA ARE DISCUSSED. SOME STORAGE STRUCTURES FOR STORING APPLES AND PEARS IN GROWING AREAS ARE PRESENTED AND A NUMERICAL TABLE WHICH CAN BE USED IN ENGINEERING PRACTICE IS LISTED. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT APPLE PRESERVATION IN MOST GROWING AREAS OF CHINA (EITHER MOUNTAIN OR FLATLAND AREAS) CAN BE SATISFACTORY.
