Summary

FOR THE DESIGN OF A FRUIT PACKING STATION, SEVERAL TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS ARE POSSIBLE, EG "DIRECT EXPANSION" OR GLYCOL WATER. THE CHOSEN SYSTEM HAS TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC IMPLICATIONS, AND ALSO DIFFERENT EFFECTS ON THE STORED PRODUCT. BECAUSE OF THIS OVERLAP AND THE DIFFICULTY IN EXPERIMENTING ON COMMERCIAL PLANT, A PILOT STORAGE PLANT WAS BUILT TO STUDY THESE SYSTEMS, WITH VARIATIONS AND THEIR EFFECT ON THE STORED PRODUCT.
