THE EFFECT OF THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE ON AIR AND EVAPORATING TEMPERATURE ANDOF THE AIR COOLER DESIGN ON THE YEARLY ENERGY AND OPERATIONAL COSTS OF A REFRIGERATION PLANT ARE QUANTIFIED. THIS QUANTIFICATION IS SHOWN WITH SOME EXAMPLES. THE EFFECT OF THE HEAT EXCHANGING SURFACE DESIGN (EFFECT ON HEAT TRANSFER, PRESSURE DROP AND FROST FORMATION) IS ILLUSTRATED, AND THE EFFECTS OF FAN DESIGN AND OF DEFROSTING EFFICIENCY ARE DISCUSSED.
