Summary

CERN's future project is a high-energy proton collider, with a girth of 26.7 km, based on an extensive use of high-field superconductor electromagnets, cooled down to superfluid helium temperature. The corresponding cryogenic system calls for new technologies being currently developed in industry and soon to be utilised on an unprecedented scale in the history of helium cryogenics.
