Summary

A DESCRIPTION IS GIVEN OF THEAPPROACH WHICH IS FOLLOWED IN THE NETHERLANDS TO ELIMINATE THE USE OF CFCS. A PROJECT WHICH INVOLVES COOPERATION BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT AND INDUSTRY HAS BEEN SET UP AND IS CALLED < CFC ACTION PROGRAMME > CONSISTING OF 2 PHASES. THE FIRSTPHASE (1990-1995) COMPRISES: VOLUNTARY REDUCTION OF CFC USE BY INDUSTRY ; AND SUPPORTING REGULATIONS. IN THE SECOND PHASE FURTHER REGULATORY MEASURES ARE PLANNED TO BE TAKEN (IF NECESSARY), CULMINATING IN A TOTAL BAN BY THE YEAR 1997.
