Summary

THE POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENT OF COP BY THE USE OF MIXTURES AS WORKING MEDIA WAS STUDIED FOR NUMEROUS INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS. IMPROVEMENTS REACHING 30% IN TERMS OF COOLING WERE OBSERVED. IMPROVEMENTS OF MORE THAN 20% WERE OBTAINED FOR 60% OF INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS. THIS RESULT IS VALID ONLY FOR A SAME TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE IN HEAT EXCHANGERS. IN ORDER TO COMPARE THE SYSTEMS FROM THE ECONOMIC STANDPOINT SMALL BUT ESSENTIAL IMPROVEMENTS ARE ENVISAGED.
